DAY 13 The pups are doing wonderfully! Their eyes are starting to open and they are trying to lift themselves up to walk rather than pulling themselves around. They have also been making alot of barking sounds when they're looking for Mom or dreaming.

DAY 17 (January 7, 2008) Today the pups started on a milk/soft food mixture once a day - in an effort to take some of the burden off of poor Sophie. Their little noses and tongues were just a going. They each had a little taste, and by the end of it they were all a mess!
They have really changed alot in the last couple of days - they are starting to sit up and look around. They are starting to interact with the world around them, and are even starting to play with eachother. Although they still sleep most of the time. Their colors are slowly changing and will keep changing for many months to come. |
||
DAY 20 (January 10, 2008) In the last 3 days the pups have changed and grown so much! They definately interact with the world around them, and enjoy experimenting with "big puppy" food. They still sleep most of the time, but when they are awake they are friendly and curious. Just when we thought they couldn't get any cuter, they did!
The pups are starting to have distinguishing features, although a few of them still look very much the same. |

DAYS 25 & 26 (January 15 & 16)

The pups are still rapidly growing and changing. We are starting to see some differences in their personalities and coats. We have put different colored collars on each of them so that we can start differentiating between them. Watch for more individual pictures soon. We started putting puppy training pads out for them last weekend and we've actually had some success with the pups using them. They're cute and smart too. :o)

January 22, 2008 The pups had fun today exploring around the house, and hanging out with Dad!

January 24, 2008 Sophie has begun the natural process of weaning the pups. They are almost completely on a combo of soft and solid food, with the addition of some puppy weaning formula. I have been changing around the flavours and textures so that they will not be used to just one type of food. As much as we love having the pups in the house it is almost time to move them into the garage. Some of the pups will be outside dogs, so it is time to climatize. The garage is insulated with a heater in it, so it won't be a big transition for them. They also need more room to play and investigate. And Sophie needs the opportunity to teach them about being dogs - socializing, scenting, etc. We will continue to bring them into the house one by one so that they can get used to being alone, without Mom and their brothers and sisters.

February 2, 2008 Today the pups had their first car-ride! They went to the vet and had their check-ups, shots and de-worming. They were also micro-chipped today. |
||
February 5, 2008 The pups had a great time outside today - with the weather being warmer they are spending more time outside. Today they even met the gas meter reader, and saw a tractor! Below is a Flash video of the pups getting frisky with our Retriever.

February 6, 2008 This morning I offered to take the pups out to feed the goats and sheep, etc with me. Only 4 of them felt like making the trek out there. There was some whining involved - but they had fun sniffing around the chicken coop, checking out the chicken feed, looking at the goats and sheep, and sniffing around the round bales. Now they are napping! The four that came with me were Males A, B, D and F. |
