Roxy is highly intelligent with a protective, watchful nature - nothing escapes her keen eye. She is very athletic and could spend all day chasing snow in the winter or toys in the summer. She has shown nothing but devotion and patience when it comes to her people and always excitedly greets us with a smile when we come home.

A favorite story about Roxy involves her and Sophie's first encounter with a porcupine. Combined the two of them had about 90 quills. A few weeks later Roxy noticed a porcupine walking up the road a couple of hundred feet away. She immediately put Sophie on her back and stood over her, with one paw on her, while watching the porcupine. As soon as it went into a ditch and was out of her sight she let Sophie get up. I'm glad I witnessed this incredible moment of intelligence and protectiveness.

About a year later the dogs had another encounter with a porcupine - Sophie again had a face full of quills, as did Thunder since it was his first experience.  Roxy, however, didn't have a quill on her - she remembered and learned from her first experience with a porcupine.

Roxy has a sable colored coat, stands approximately 24" to the top of her shoulder blade, and is generally around 80 lbs.

Sophie is a wonderful girl - she's very loving and loyal. She has proven to be an excellent mother - we are very proud of how devoted she is to her pups. She is bright and eager to please her people. She absolutely loves going for car rides. She has a knack for scenting - she will pick up on and follow the scent of anyone who has walked through the yard when she wasn't around. She is wary of strangers and likes to keep her distance until she gets to know them.
